Policies

by editor@audleyparishnewsletter.co.uk | Feb 27, 2026

Audley Parish Newsletter operates under a clear framework of internal and external policies designed to ensure professionalism, safety, transparency and editorial integrity. As an independent, not-for-profit, community-led publication established in October 2025, we are committed to maintaining high standards in both content and governance.

Internal Governance

Our work is guided by a formal Operating Procedure, which defines our purpose, editorial process, decision-making structure and financial management. This ensures clarity around roles, accountability and how the publication is produced each month.

We operate alongside two core internal safeguarding documents:

  • Safeguarding Policy – Ensures that all contributors, particularly young people, are protected and that appropriate adult oversight, reporting mechanisms and safeguarding responsibilities are in place.

  • Content Policy – Establishes the standards governing all published material. It applies to articles, letters, political submissions, advertisements, images, graphics and both print and online content.

The Content Policy is designed to:

  • Protect contributors and the editorial team

  • Maintain legal and ethical publishing standards

  • Ensure respectful, constructive community dialogue

  • Provide clarity regarding editorial discretion and responsibility

External Standards Adopted

To reinforce best practice, we formally adopt and operate in alignment with:

  • The Editors’ Code of Practice (IPSO)

  • The Handbook to the Editors’ Code

  • The BBC Young Reporters Guide

  • Relevant church magazine publishing guidance

Financial and Operational Principles

Audley Parish Newsletter is not commercially driven. Any income received through donations or advertising is used solely to cover printing and operational costs or to support community initiatives where clearly declared. Financial supervision is overseen by responsible adults within the team to ensure transparency and accountability.

Scope of Application

These policies apply to:

  • Editorial content

  • Community submissions

  • Political material

  • Advertising

  • Printed editions

  • Digital communications

Together, this framework ensures that the Newsletter remains a responsible, balanced and trusted platform for parish life — independent, community-focused and operated to recognised professional standards.
